Description

This pack contains 44 Tone Models, for ToneX, Captures, for Quad Cortex or Profiles, for Kemper, of Greg’s rebuilt 1965 Acey10 combo, in the rare single 10” cab.

The little brother of the AC15, it has all the richness of tone, with a simplified tremolo and 10” speaker. The vibrato channel features the same legendary EF86 circuit used in the original AC15s and AC30s.

The normal channel has the added Top Boost module, which weren’t usually fitted to AC10s. Creating an amp with 2 equal, but different sounding channels.

Contents

The pack contains 18 Tone Models, Captures or Profiles, of the EF86 powered Vibrato channel [9 full (amp & meticulously mic’d cab), plus 9 direct (amp only or merged for Kemper)].

26 Tone Models, Captures or Profiles, of the Normal channel, with added Top Boost module. [13 full (amp & meticulously mic’d cab), plus 13 direct (amp only or merged for Kemper)]

What an incredible set of profiles. I’ve used a Vox AC30 for nearly 40 years and had pretty much given up on finding a set of profiles that actually capture that sound. I’ve tried every free sample and listened to lots of demos and none of them sounded right. I’ve watched Greg’s videos and heard him use this before and was hoping he’d release this. Not disappointed. Cheaper than I expected too! Australian dollars are really low. If you want a Vox that actually sounds like a Vox, try this. Hopefully he’ll profile his AC30s too.

As I said in another review, I met Greg a few years ago, before he was making these for the general public and he graciously gave me a few sets. His AC30 is one I’ve used a lot and really love. This sounds similar to the bigger amp, but also quite different. Really loving the EF86 channel for clean and crunch tones. It’s like Vox’ version of a Fender champ, only bigger and more harmonic content. The top boost channel is more like an AC30, but still it’s own thing. I can see this set being used a lot.

If you’re someone who normally uses the direct profile, with an IR, make sure you try the full cab version with all of Greg’s profiles. I know in most cases, the direct, with IR sounds better. Not with these. The full profile sounds much better to my ears and if you happen to disagree, you still have the direct profile, that you can use with your IR. Win, win situation.
